If staying fit and healthy is your goal for 2018, then fresh produce is important. Beginning in February, the Massillon Public Library and its branches will offer free vegetable and flower seed packets to their patrons.
StarkFresh, a non-profit organization working to break the cycle of poverty by increasing consumption of locally sourced, healthy, and affordable foods through equal food access and educational opportunities, distributed 50,000 seed packets to be given to area residents, and Massillon Public Library was chosen as one of the locations to offer them. The free seeds, located near the library’s Reference desk are sorted by flower and vegetable types.
The seed packets were generously donated by Marcs Grocery Stores, City of Canton Health Department, Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co., Territorial Seeds, Burpee, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, and Holmes Seed Co.
