Library to Hold Blood Drive

Roll up a sleeve with Massillon Public Library and the American Red Cross to significantly help patients in need by donating blood. On Friday, August 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the Massillon Public Library will host a Red Cross Blood Drive in the auditorium.

According to the American Red Cross, blood products are currently being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in. Every two seconds in the United States blood and platelets are needed to respond to patient emergencies, including accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease. The Red Cross must collect approximately 14,000 blood and platelet donations every day for the patients at about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide. The community is invited to take part in this lifesaving event to help boost the blood supply and ensure blood products are on the shelves for patients in need.

For more information, contact the Massillon Public Library at 330-832-9831, ext. 312.

The Massillon Public Library is located at 208 Lincoln Way East and the Second Street entrance is handicapped accessible.
