Synopsis:
Tom and Kate Baker and their brood of twelve very active children lead a hectic but happy life in the pleasant small town of Midland. Their lives are turned upside down when Tom gets a demanding new job, which requires a move. Before they are really settled in, Kate gets a book published and has to leave the family to go on a book tour. Can Tom and the kids keep things together when Kate is gone?
I would recommend this movie!
Why?
We chose this movie because we were looking for something that all of us, our two-year-old included, could watch together as a family.
I have always been a fan of both Bonnie Hunt and Steve Martin, so I figured this was something I would enjoy and not merely tolerate.
I was right! It is a delightful little feel-good movie that delighted us all.
My only gripe with the movie is the use of the name "Cheaper by the Dozen", which implies that it is based on the true story of the
Gilbreth family about whom a book, a play and a movie have already been produced. Aside from the number of the kids involved, this is nothing like the original.
