    Synopsis:
This movie explores different parent-child relationships as they are played out in the extended Buckman family. The central "Dad" in the movie is Gil Buckman (Steve Martin) who is having a difficult time balancing the demands of his tenuous career with the needs of his family, particularly his oldest child. Gil's three siblings also struggle with child rearing; and the two adult Buckman sons still have issues to work out with the family patriarch (Jason Robards). The interaction between all of these characters as they stumble through the trials and tribulations of parenthood is the basis for a thoroughly entertaining viewing experience.

    I would recommend this movie!

    Why?
This movie is one of my all-time favorites. I have literally lost count of how many times I've seen it, and I would watch it again in a minute. The writing, acting and directing are superb. There's so much going on here, with the perfect mix of humorous and serious scenes. The entire ensemble really delivers. Rarely does a movie bounce between touching your heart and your funny bone so well.
