Massillon Public Library - Circulation Policies

The Library's circulating collection includes books, magazines, cassettes and CDs, videos (including feature films, children's videos and non-fiction videos), DVDs, books on tape and book/cassette kits (children's stories). These materials may be borrowed by anyone with a library card for a period of two weeks. While most of our materials may be borrowed free of charge, there is a 50 cent rental fee for videos and DVDs.

Renewing Materials

If you should need to keep your borrowed materials past their original due date, you may renew them for another two weeks. Renewals can be done in person, over the telephone or online. To renew your materials over the telephone, call 330-832-9831. Please have your library card number or your six digit patron ID (which is printed at the top of the receipt you receive when you check materials out) with you when you call.

Materials may be renewed online by accessing the Encore Catalog and clicking on the "My Account" option located in the menu that appears at the top of the search box. Visit the online catalog information page for more information about accessing your account online.

Materials that are not on hold for another patron may be renewed up to 3 times before you must return them to the Library. Materials that are on hold may not be renewed.

Late Fees

Overdue materials are assessed the following charges:

Adult / Young Adult Department Materials
(books, magazines, CDs, cassettes, videos, DVDs)
10 cents per day, per item
Children's Department Materials
(excluding videos and DVDs)
5 cents per day, per item

Overdue materials may be renewed to stop fines from accumulating. Any fees that had been assessed prior to the renewal will stay on your card's record until they are paid at the Library. No additional materials may be checked out on a library card that has late fees over $2.50 until payment is made that reduces the amount owed to $2.50 or less.
