The Internet is filled with lots of terrific places for kids to explore, learn and have fun; but there are
also some things on the Internet that are not for kids. When you visit places that are not part of the Library's Web
site, you need to be careful. Here are some things to keep in mind while surfing the Internet:
- Never give out personal information about yourself or your family on the Internet. Do not send or post pictures
of yourself online without your parent's permission.
- Never arrange to meet anyone in person that you have met online unless your parents are with you.
- Keep your Internet passwords a secret (so other people can't pretend to be you online!)
- Follow your parents' rules about what kinds of sites you are allowed to look at on the Internet.
If you accidentally end up somewhere that you shouldn't be, click on the "Home" button immediately.
- If you see or are sent something on the Internet that bothers you, be sure to discuss it with your parents.
- If you have any trouble using the Internet properly, ask for help.
