Massillon Public Library - Human Resources Department

OHIO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM
All employees of the Massillon Public Library participate in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System. This is in place of Social Security. The employee contributes 8.5% through payroll deduction and the library contributes 13.55% toward each employee's retirement fund.

The Employee and Employer contribution percentages will be increasing over a three (3) year period beginning January 1, 2006. Employee: (2006) 9%, (2007) 9.5%, (2008) 10%; Employer: (2006) 13.7%, (2007) 13.85%, (2008) 14%.

MEDICARE
All employees of the library, hired after April 1, 1986, have 1.45% of their gross salary withheld for Medicare. The library pays a matching amount.

HEALTH INSURANCE
Regular Employees who have a regular work schedule of 25 or more hours/week are eligible to participate in the library's health insurance program, currently through HomeTown Health Network.

For Full-time Employees, the library pays 70% of the Single and 60% of the Two-Person [Employee/Spouse or Employee/Child(ren)] and Family premiums. Eligible Part-time Employees who wish to participate in the health insurance program are required to pay 100% of the plan premium.

PAID LEAVE
Regular Employees, Full-time and Part-time with regular hours of at least 20 hours/week, who successfully complete their twelve (12) week training period, are allocated Paid Sick, Personal and Birthday Leave.

Regular Employees, Full-time and Part-time with regular hours of at least 20 hours/week, who complete six (6) months of employment with the library, are allocated Paid Vacation Leave.

HOLIDAY PAY
Regular Employees, both Part-time and Full-time, are eligible for some Holiday Pay upon successful completion of their training period. Full-time Employees receive Holiday pay for all holidays when the library is scheduled to be closed. Part-time Employees receive Holiday pay when the library is closed for a holiday which occurs on a day when the employee is normally scheduled to work.

The library is closed and employees receive Holiday Pay for the following holidays:
New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day.

The library closes at 1:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve Day, and employees receive pay for half a holiday.

FLOATING HOLIDAYS
The library is open on Martin Luther King Day and Veteran's Day. Full-time Employees, who have successfully completed their training period, are eligible to receive equivalent time off for these two days in the form of Floating Holidays.

OHIO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES DEFERRED COMPENSATION PROGRAM
Employees may participate in the Ohio Public Employees Deferred Compensation Program, which is a tax-sheltered investment plan, through payroll deductions. This is 100% paid by the employee.

LIFE INSURANCE
The library offers membership in New York Life Insurance plan to all employees. Premium payments are made by payroll deduction and are paid 100% by the employee.

AFLAC (American Family Assurance Company)
All Regular Employees may participate in a variety of health-related plans available through AFLAC. Premium payments are made by payroll deduction and are paid 100% by the employee.
