The programs listed on this page are being held at the Main library, 208 Lincoln Way East in Massillon.

Summer Reading Club activities are also planned for the Askren branch and Belloni branch libraries.

Summer Reading Club Kick-Off
10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
ALL AGES up to grade 6
Stop in any time today to sign up for Summer Reading Club & take part in fun activities & crafts.

Friday, June 13
Crazy Concoctions
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.   
Grades K - 6
Get messy with some crazy concoctions you’ll learn to make yourself!  Have fun with slimy, stretchy, flexible Flubber! Experiment with tornadoes-in-bottles, and make your own sidewalk chalk.  Be sure to wear old clothes!

Tuesday, June 17
Family Movie Night

5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
ALL AGES    
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Free popcorn is available. Water and soda is sold for fifty cents each.
No registration required.

Fizz, Boom, Create! T-Shirt Stenciling

Bring your own white or light colored t-shirt to decorate.

Tuesday, June 24
Recipe for Disaster
10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  
Grades K – 6
Get in touch with your inner Mad Scientist!  Learn to perform exciting experiments, including how to make “Exploding Toothpaste,” snack on Mad Scientist Gorp and cool off with refreshing Green Slime Punch.  Program participants will leave with step-by-step instructions for each experiment so you can do them at home and amaze your family and friends.

I Scream for Ice Cream: Confessions of a Mad Scientist
6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Grades K - 6  
Observe some wacky experiments, get messy with some hands-on formulas, and enjoy delicious hand-made ice cream and cookies.

Tuesday, July 8
Snakes Alive!

Presented by the staff of The Wilderness Center
Come any time between 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
All ages welcome; children under grade 3 will require adult supervision & assistance
Celebrate snakes with stations you try on your own. Learn snake myths, make a paper snake to take home, play a snake game, find camouflaged snakes, and see a snake skeleton. Meet Boris, a Black Rat snake, or Corn Snakes Maisy and Zea.
No registration required.

2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
ALL AGES
Let the Akron Zoo tell you about all the wonderful things animals can do either in defense of themselves, for breeding, or just because they can!  Anything from the hissing of reptiles to the smack of a porcupine's tail to the chemicals released by millipedes will be discussed.  Then be prepared to see a few live animals who have some cool reactions themselves.
