Picturing America

To help teach American history and culture, the Massillon Public Library will offer “Picturing America,” a series of six free programs incorporating activities, fun and some of the country’s great works of art.

On February 27 at 11:00 a.m. the library will present two paintings, George Washington by Gilbert Stuart and Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Leutze. Artist and educator Kathy Jevec will lead the program.

Take a fantastic voyage. Imitate Indiana Jones in his search for buried treasure. And all without leaving your chair! The voyage is into your head and the treasure is your imagination and thoughts. Socratic dialogue is the vehicle by which you will explore the paintings and also hear dramatic readings by and about George Washington.

Registration is required, and may be done by visiting the Children’s Department or calling (330) 832-5037. The Massillon Public Library is located at 208 Lincoln Way East. The Second Street entrance is handicapped accessible.
