Library Listed in Top Twitter List

Many social networking websites have lots of bells and whistles which allow users to upload profiles, pictures, multimedia, and many other programs onto their homepages. Twitter, on the other hand, is very simple and rapidly becoming one of the most talked-about social networking service providers. It is a free service that lets you keep in touch with people through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What's happening?

How, you might ask, is a trendy networking system like Twitter relative to Massillon Public Library's ongoing commitment to great public service?  Twitter allows the library to post information about an upcoming program or new service to a whole network of contacts with just one email or text message. This means our patrons no longer have to interrupt their busy lives to go and find out what new and exciting things are happening at the library. With Twitter, the information source is always convenient — you never miss the latest updates.

In fact, according to NFI Research, a U.S.-based research firm that identifies and analyzes trends and attitudes in business, organizational management, information technology and organizational behavior, Massillon Public Library was listed in the top public libraries using Twitter. The listed libraries "regularly update their pages and communicate with their followers, use Twitter to advance and promote communication with their community and have a proportionate number of followers," reports NFI Research. At the time of this report, the Massillon Public Library was #65 on the list and categorized with libraries having 500+ Twitter followers.
