Smart Dog, by Vivian Vande Velde (yes, that is her REAL name!) is a suspenseful but hilarious book for dog lovers everywhere

When the author was growing up, she owned a dog that could understand commands in both English and French, and wished that he could secretly speak to her, and NOT her brother! In the story, Sherlock is a special dog who speaks, and has become the property of a university science lab. He escapes, meets Amy, and the fun begins. Amy will do anything to save Sherlock, just as all animal lovers would!

Dogs have a special place in my heart, and this book really spoke (ruff ruff!) to me!
