The Massillon Public Library announces its partnership with the Ohio eBook Project. This
service makes it possible for patrons to "check out" and download digital books and music
anytime of day from anywhere in the world with just their library cards.
The collection includes digital books (both eBooks and audio books), music, and video.
An eBook, is a text-based, digital version of a book that can be read on your home computer,
Smartphone, Palm OS device, or PocketPC. Digital audio books, which are spoken-word digital
audio files, can be enjoyed on your PC and hundreds of portable audio devices (but not IPods,
unfortunately). You can even burn some of the digital audio books to CD and listen in your
car or on any standard CD player. Digital music functions in the same manner that the
digital audio books do as does the digital video. Digital Video can be enjoyed on Pocket
PCs, Portable Media Centers, and devices running Windows Mobile 5.0.
Installation of free software (Adobe Reader or Mobipocket Reader for eBooks, the
OverDrive Media Console for digital audio books, music, and video) from the Ohio eBook
Project website is required to use the collection. When the lending period for your
digital materials is up, the materials are automatically returned to the Ohio eBook
project so there are never any late fees!
To get started, visit the Ohio eBook
Project online.
The Ohio eBook Project is funded in part using LSTA funds awarded by the Institute
of Museum and Library Services to the State Library of Ohio.
We hope you enjoy the accessibility of this new service. Happy reading and listening!
