The Massillon Public Library will once again accept canned goods and non-perishable food items
instead of money for overdue fines from
November 15 to December 15, 2007. This
year the Library will also accept new school supplies as donations to "pay" for fines.
Library patrons who donate these items will have overdue fines deleted from their
records. Donations will not, however, cancel charges for lost materials or for collection
agency fees. The library asks persons to be guided by their consciences and size their
donations somewhat in proportion to the fines they owe. All donations will be given to the
Salvation Army in Massillon for distribution to its clients.
For more information, contact either the Adult Circulation Department
at 330.832.9831, extension 311 or the Children's Department at 330.832.5037.
This drive will also be conducted at the Barry Askren Branch
(temporarily located in the original MPL bookmobile stationed at 1200 Market Street,
Navarre at the Towpath YMCA campus. ) 330.879.2113; the Pam S. Belloni Branch in
the new Fairless Elementary School 330.767.9939; and also on the new Bookmobile.
