Title: You'll Like My Mother
Author: Naomi A. Hintze

type of book: Suspense
call number: Fic

This book is strong in character, story and setting.

Summary:
Francesca Kinsolving is twenty-one, eight months pregnant and a widow. Her husband Mathew was killed in Vietnam shortly after their wedding . . . and before she found out she was carrying his child. Now she is going to the tiny river town of Always, Ohio, to visit the mother-in-law whom she has never met. Her mother-in-law has never answered her letters or telegrams, but she was assured many times by Mathew that Francesca would like her.

Francesca arrives at Mrs. Kingsolving's door planning to only meet her and leave. What happens is a story of surprises and of terror.

I would recommend this book!

Why?
This book was published in 1969. The story, though, is as timeless as Poe's Fall of the House of Usher.

At just under 200 pages long, it is a quick read. Each page brings more and more fear to the story, as Francesca has her baby, finds that it is still alive, and tries to escape the cruelty of her mother-in-law.
