This book is strong in character, story and language.
Summary:
Benedetta (Bennie) Rosato is a Philadelphia lawyer and partner in the
firm of Rosato & Biscardi. When Mark Biscardi (the other partner of the firm,
who wants to break up the firm to start another one on his own) ends up
murdered, Bennie is suspected of the crime. When a few others also end up dead,
Bennie finds herself on the run and trying to solve the crimes she is accused
of committing.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
This book is action packed and very fast moving. The dialog is great, the
plot is interesting, and the writing style superb! The descriptions of sex and
violence are minimal - gets the point across without all the dirty details. The
language isn't as minimal, as there is quite a bit of swearing. That doesn't
bother me at all, but it may offend some readers. (Bennie actually goes on a "curse diet" in Dead Ringer!)
I think I found a new author to add to my favorites!
Other suggested reading:
There are several books by this author that have the same characters.
Bennie isn't always the main character.
Lisa Scottoline has been hailed as the "female John Grisham" (another favorite of mine), so check out some of his books as well.
