Title: Dead Ringer
Author: Lisa Scottoline
type of book: Mystery / Suspense
call number: Fic

This book is strong in character, story, language and setting.
Summary:
Bennie Rosato is back, fighting crime and trying to not lose her
business (or her life).
When Bennie's wallet goes missing she thinks it was just misplaced or left
behind when she went to the store. When items she didn't order are delivered to
her office, she knows that it was stolen. It isn't until she is arrested for
stealing a pair of diamond earrings that she understands what is happening - her
long lost twin sister is back in town and trying to ruin her!
If this wasn't bad enough, Bennie's savings are rapidly being depleted as she
uses them to keep her law practice open. Then the client whose case could keep
the office working winds up murdered . . .
I would recommend this book!
Why?
This book is action packed and very fast moving. The dialog is great, the
plot is interesting, and the writing style superb! The descriptions of sex and
violence are minimal - gets the point across without all the dirty details. The
language isn't as minimal, as there is quite a bit of swearing. That doesn't
bother me at all, but it may offend some readers. (Bennie is actually on a "curse diet" in this book!)
Other suggested reading:
There are several books by this author that have the same characters.
Bennie isn't always the main character.
Lisa Scottoline has been hailed as the "female John Grisham" (another favorite of mine), so check out some of his books as well.
