Title: The Lovely Bones: A Novel
Author: Alice Sebold
type of book: Fiction
call number: Fic
|
This book is strong in character and story.
Summary:
When Susie Salmon is 14 years old, she is killed by a neighbor and goes
to heaven. This book is written from Susie's perspective as she watches her
family and friends struggle to go on without her.
I would NOT recommend this book.
Why?
I found this book very sad and depressing. The author does an interesting
job with the character development, particularly after Susie's death. However,
it did not resolve a few things for me and left me hanging. The thoughts
expressed by Susie who is watching events from heaven, tend to be rambling and
vague.
Just because a book is on the best seller's list doesn't mean everyone
will like it!
