Author: J.A. Jance
type of book: Mystery

This book is strong in character, story and setting.
Summary:
A woman released from prison after serving 8 years for killing her
husband is found murdered the day of her release. The only witness is her
teenage daughter who flees into the Arizona desert. Joanna Brady, the local
sheriff, must solve the murder and disappearance of the young girl, deal with
her impending wedding, cope with a critical mother and try to spend time with
her young daughter.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
I liked how the book got right into the story. There were several side bar
mysteries that came up in addition to the major crime that had to be solved.
The characters were very down to earth. It was interesting to see how the
female sheriff dealt with her mostly male staff, the bureaucrats who try to
stall her investigation and her critical mother and about-to-be mother in law.
I would definitely read another book by this author!
