This book is strong in story and setting.

    Summary:
Prior to the publication of his latest book, world renown symbologist Robert Langdon is in Paris where he is to meet with the curator of the Louvre. Instead of taking that meeting, however, he receives a phone call informing him that the curator has been murdered inside the museum. Summoned to the crime scene by the police, Langdon discovers that he is their number one suspect. Only cryptologist Sophie Neveu, grand-daughter of the murder victim, is convinced of Langdon's innocence. Together the two flee the police and, prompted by clues left for them at the scene of the attack, embark on an investigation of their own that takes them through an intriguing world of clandestine societies, dark conspiracies and ancient secrets.

    I would recommend this book!

    Why?
This book is extremely fast-paced and completely enthralling. The short, action-packed chapters propel the reader through the story very quickly and add to the atmosphere of being in a race to discover what is happening and what is at stake.

The author's exceptional research of art, religion and secret societies adds a great deal to the story. It is fascinating to ponder what these revelations might imply about the history of Western civilization as it is currently written.

    Other suggested reading:

  • The Moon Under Her Feet by Clysta Kinstler provides a detailed retelling of the Christ story from Mary Magdalene's point of view. It draws on ancient mythologies and focuses on the kind of worship of the sacred feminine that Dan Brown alludes to in The Da Vinci Code.
