type of book: Biography
call number: Bio/ EARN.da (YA)

This book is strong in character, story, language and setting.
Summary:
In the popular sport of NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., is its princely
star. His simple modesty, party lifestyle, and competitiveness on the racetrack
make him the most popular driver of the fast-paced sport.
In this book, Dale Jr. takes the reader through his rookie 2000 year in Winston
Cup at superspeedway qualifying speeds. He shares the highs of sweet victory and
the lows of mechanical failures and crashes. Because of his famous father, he
must learn to deal with high expectations and results, media pressures, and
learning how to drive cars that are faster and more dangerous than any others
before. Finally, Dale Jr. talks about his relationship with his father who is
his boss and often his fiercest competitor, and ends with how he dealt with
Nascar's greatest lost.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
This book takes the reader behind the scenes of the Nascar world. Dale Jr.
discusses strategies about cars, drivers, and teams for every track the Winston
Cup circuit races on. He talks about the necessarily special relationship
between drivers, spotters, and pit crews. Most importantly, this narrative is an
open, honest, beer drinking party that is a non-stop read.
