This book is strong in story and setting.
Summary:
Jack McMorrow is a stringer for the New York Times. When his
girlfriend, Roxanne Masterson, a social worker for the Maine Department of Human
Services investigates the alleged abuse of a wealthy Boston couple's daughter,
he tags along looking for a story. They become friends with the couple and meet
some of their employees, including Angel, a young, beautiful Italian girl who
seems to have a mesmerizing effect on her male co-workers as well as her boss.
Two days later she is found brutally murdered, her body dumped in the Maine
woods. In his attempts to discover the truth about her death, Jack is
discouraged by two thugs who rough him up. He and Roxanne are determined to
learn the truth, although doubts arise about the couple's sincerity and
questions about their past arise.
I might recommend this book.
Why?
This book is well enough written to keep you reading although it is not the
type of book you cannot put down. The characters aren't too deeply developed
but the story moves along at a good pace which I liked.
