Title: Gruel and Unusual Punishment: A Pennsylvania Dutch Mystery with Recipes
Author: Tamar Myers
type of book: Mystery
call number: Fic
|
Summary:
Magdalene Yonder is the Mennonite owner of the popular Penn Dutch Inn. When a prisoner dies in the town's jail after eating a dinner prepared at her establishment, Magdalene's brother-in-law, Sheriff Melvin, asks for help to solve the mystery.
I would NOT recommend this book.
Why?
The story was weak. Although the characters were the strongest aspect of the book, they still seemed shallow and one dimensional. If I were Amish or Mennonite, I would be offended by the portrayal of the people in this book. The greatest mystery to me is why I actually finished reading it.
