This book is strong in character and story.
Summary:
This modern day take on "A Christmas Carol" meets Valentine's Day is a funny,
fast read about life during a holiday where being single is a curse and often
causes emotional heartache. Due to lots of bad luck and a particularly
devastating break up two years ago, Liv has all but sworn off men and voted for
a single life where hobbies and work will fill up all her possible empty time
and space. Especially funny is that Liv is a wedding photographer and is booked
to shoot six weddings over Valentine's Day weekend.
After getting a visit from a dead coworker (a Marley-eques single woman who died
alone, bitter and with too many cats), Liv gets visits from three Valentine's
Day ghosts (Past, Present, and Future) who lead her on a journey to overcome her
past and take a big chance on love again.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
Liv's humor and interaction with Drew and Justine keep readers turning the
pages. Liv really really hates Valentine's Day, and with good reason. This
year she vows to not be set up on dates by any of her family or friends and
tells them all in no uncertain terms to let her be single. Subconsciously
disappointing to her is the fact that they have given up on her just as she has given
up on herself and love.
This Chick Lit novel is a must read for women who like fast, humorous reads
about being single and the troubles of dating, friendship, and love.
