Title: Perfidia: A Novel
Author: Judith Rossner
call number: Fic
|
Summary:
Madeleine Stern wants more than anything to feel loved by her divorced mother, Anita, who lavishes attention on lovers and on Madelaine's half brother while alternately abusing and ignoring her daughter. Sexually voracious and dangerously self-absorbed, Anita Stern competes with the teenaged Madelaine in everything - achievements, looks, even young men. Madelaine's planned departure for college as she continues her affair with the powerful Geraldo, combined with Anita's threatened loss of control over her Santa Fe gallery complex, turns their home into a battleground that explodes into violence and death.
I would probably recommend this book.
Why?
I finished this book a few days ago and I haven't yet decided if I like it. There really isn't a lot of depth to the characters or the story.
Other interesting information about this book:
This story is loosely based on a real murder case involving a Harvard applicant.
