Title: There and Back Again: An Actor's Tale
Author: Sean Astin (with Joe Layden)
type of book: Autobiography
call number: BIO/ASTI.se

This book is strong in story.
Summary:
Overall, this book is an awesome biography. It is an honest, frank
look at acting and the actor. Astin doesn't hide from or cover up his own
flaws, mistakes, and idiosyncrasies. He freely admits and apologizes for his
own ego and shortcomings, as well as explains his pride for accomplishments.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
Astin discusses how finances, awards, and movie deals are made in general,
and focuses the whole second half of the book on an insider's look at Lord of
the Rings movie trilogy and the people involved. He shows how important family,
friendship, and a little humility are in his life. It is a must read for those
who want to know all they can about the making of the LOTR films, as well as
those who enjoy reading about celebrity life.
Other suggested reading:
There and Back Again: an Actor's Tale the most enjoyable biography
I've read since Driver #8 by Dale Earnhardt Jr., which is also an honest and frank look
at public celebrity life.
