Title: Turn Left At Sanity
Author: Nancy Warren
type of book: Fiction - Chick Lit
call number: FIC/ROM
|
This book is strong in character, story and language.
Summary:
Emmylou runs Shady Lady Bed & Breakfast in the quintessential small town,
Beaverton, where everyone knows everything about each other and the townspeople
truly look out for and help one another. Shady Lady was Emmylou's
grandmother's brothel and Olive and Lydia are retirees who live with Emmylou.
Joe comes to town from NY in order to buy mineral rights and a suitable piece of
property for his clients to build a cat litter factory. He thinks Beaverton
will be ecstatic because of job growth, not realizing the environmental and
cultural problems such development would cause. Within the first 24 hours of
Joe's arrival, the townspeople learn of his plan, don't like it, and enlist
Emmylou's help to stall and stop Joe. Olive and Lydia have additional plans
for Emmylou and Joe, which includes making them have lots of sex and fall in love.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
The townspeople are crazy and funny. The main characters both learn
valuable life lessons that make them better people. Emmylou teaches Joe how to
disconnect from the hectic life of NY and technology and Joe teaches Emmylou how
really let her guard down and truly love.
