This book is strong in character and setting.
Summary:
Journalist Tom Langdon is trying to get from Washington DC to Los
Angeles for Christmas. After being involved in a security issue at the airport,
he is forced to travel across country by train. Trying to make the best of the
situation, he decides to write about his trip. As he begins the research for his
story, he discovers an interesting variety of characters and stories among the
passengers. To his surprise he is reunited with someone he thought was lost to
him long ago. The reunion, however, is a little rocky at times. The adventures,
experiences and people he encounters not only provide him with interesting
material for his story, but also some personal self discoveries as well.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is the perfect combination of humor,
drama and suspense. It has a host of colorful characters and a surprise twist at
the end. The details made you feel as though you were making the trip by train
yourself.
