Title: Step-Ball-Change
Author: Jeanne Ray
type of book: Humorous "Women's" Fiction
call number: Fic
|
This book is strong in
character and story.
Summary:
Caroline McSwain, a 60-ish dance instructor (hence the title) presides
over a chaotic household: her estranged flighty sister arrives for a visit
(after discovering her husband is having an affair) and brings along her biting
terrier; her only daughter announces her engagement to the local rich boy (but
is still seeing her old boyfriend); and their home is in the midst of a
never-ending construction project. Will the upcoming wedding (and home repairs)
destroy their retirement fund?
I would recommend this book!
Why?
Although sappy, with a TOO "picture-perfect" ending, the characters are
delightful and the diaglogue witty and smart. It's nice to see a fictional
couple with a good marriage and real kids who do dumb things, and for things to
turn out nicely for everyone.
Other interesting information about this book:
Ray also wrote Julie and Romeo which reviewers called "charming."
