This book is strong in
character and story.
Summary:
A gambling cruise during a tropical storm gets even scarier thanks to
organized crime, double-crosses among the bad guys, two octogenarians at the
helm after the captain is shot, and other assorted mayhem.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
A fun read you can finish off in an evening, it has all the wackiness of
typical Dave Barry, and an actual plot that, while it strains credibility, keeps
you guessing until the end. And you really root for the romantic aspirations of
the main character Wally, a slacker guitarist from the ship's band.
Additional comments:
As Dave Barry warns in the introduction, "this book contains bad
language." (Apparently some of the readers of his first novel, Big Trouble, were
surprised by that.) There's also plenty of sex, potty humor and gruesome
bloodletting, so be warned!
