This book is strong in
character.
Summary:
A victim of downsizing, Stephanie Plum, 30, of Trenton, New Jersey, and former lingerie buyer for a mid-grade department store takes a job as a bounty hunter for her sleazy cousin, Vinnie. Inexperienced and needing money, her first case is to bring in Joe Morelli, a cop charged with murder and a man who, as an acquaintance in high school, had compromised her virtue!
I would recommend this book!
Why?
This book is fast-paced with good dialog, though there is some profanity. There is also some graphic violence to establish the seriousness of the villain. Stephanie is gutsy, but believable and has a well-developed sense of humor. This will appeal to mystery fans, especially women since the lead character is female; but male characters are numerous and well-drawn, too, so men will likely enjoy the story.
Other suggested reading:
Books by Patricia Cornwell, though she's not given to as much humor.
Books by Sara Paretsky, which feature a female private eye.
