Summary:
This is the cradle to grave life story of the beloved, innovative children's author & illustrator who gave the world The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hatches the Egg, The Lorax, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and many more. As an advocate for literacy he worked with Random House to establish highly successful beginner books.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
This is an exceedingly well-researched and written book. It provides some information on Geisel's ancestors, but focuses almost exclusively on the genius himself who was deeply loved by his own circle of friends and millions of children. Not a publicity hound, his stage freight was immense yet his impact on the world of children's literature is unparalleled.
Other suggested reading:
Susan Quinn's
Marie Curie: A Life is an equally well-researched and interesting biography.
