Summary:
A twelve-year-old hoodlum runs off with a baby girl whose mother was murdered. His mother Lucy and town policeman Julian Cash pursue the unlikely pair and solve the murder, against a sweltering Florida May when sea turtles walk through town and humans behave just as mysteriously.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
This is a magical, romantic combination of the supernatural mixed with the mundane; so descriptive you feel you're living the story. I cared enough about the characters to cry for them (hoping I wouldn't get any customers at my garage sale right then!) Highly recommended.
Other suggested reading:
I also loved Alice Hoffman's
Seventh Heaven about a divorcee's assimilation into a 1950's suburb and the magical transformation she caused in her neighbors' lives.
