Author: Steven Brust
type of book: Fairy Tale / Fantasy
call number: Fic
|
Summary:
5 artists share a studio where they work more or less full time. Since
they haven't made much money, they are considering quitting the studio and
finding real jobs. The narrator is Dave, one of the artists, who tells stories
(all Hungarian fairy tales) he learned growing up. The story of Csucskari, a
gypsy who tries to find the sun, moon and stars and restore them to the vacant
heavens, is intermixed with the story of the artists.
I would NOT recommend this book!
Why not?
I actually couldn't finish this book. I found it hard to follow and just
annoying how the author finished each chapter with "Bones?" I put it down two
weeks ago to read something else and have yet to force myself to finish it.
Other interesting information about this book:
This is the first book in Terri Windling's Fairy Tales Series. If I would have
read this one first, I would not have read any of the others.
