This book is strong in character, story, language and setting.

    Summary:
Esmé is a first year teacher - teaching 5th grade in an inner-city school that just opened. She is very strong-willed, imaginative, creative and idealistic. Her first year of teaching is an eye-opening one for herself and for her students.

    I would recommend this book!

    Why?
I read this book within 2 hours, not just because it was short (less than 200 pages), but also because I didn't put it down. The author's account of her first year of teaching both reminded me why I originally wanted to become a teacher and why I decided to not to become one. Her descriptions of the students, the parents, her co-workers, the classroom and the school are vivid. I could imagine them in front of me.
