This book is strong in character, story and setting.
Summary:
When we meet the narrator she is already dead and in heaven. Susie
Salmon, age 14 at her death, watches life on Earth continue without her,
describing for the reader the thoughts and actions of her friends and family as
they cope with her murder.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
I wanted to read this book because I have heard so many people talk about
it. In the past, I have found that many books that everyone raves about are
not always the greatest. But not this one! It is wonderfully written!! I
actually cried as I was reading the book.
I usually don't get so emotional when reading a book. I think it was the realness of the narrator's words that affected me so. My only complaint is that I wish the author would have developed certain times in the Salmon family's lives a bit more -- like Buckley's childhood.
