This book is strong in
character, story, language and setting.
Summary:
The book is hard to summarize. The main character is slowly going
insane and becoming increasingly convinced that everyone around him is a robot
and that he is the only human with free will. The result of his dementia is a
humorous, though sadistic rampage through the little town of Midland City, Ohio,
while the author looks on and even makes an appearance at the novel's end.
Unforgettable and unbelievable, this book has earned its permanent mark in the
annals of literary history.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
Vonnegut has a unique voice that has not since been duplicated. He was a
giant in the 60's among free spirits and college kids alike. He seems to be
reborn with every generation. Reading him is a must!
Other suggested reading:
Any book by Vonnegut is strongly recommended, especially
Cat's Cradle,
Slaughterhouse Five and
Sirens of Titan
