Title: The Lovely Bones: A Novel
Author: Alice Sebold
type of book: Fiction
call number: Fic
|
This book is strong in character, story and setting.
Summary:
On her way home from school one idyllic snowy day in the early 1970s, fourteen-year-old Susie Salmon is lured away, raped and murdered by a neighbor. From heaven, she watches her family, friends and the boy she was falling for try to make sense of the tragedy and move on with their lives.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
This book pulls you into the story on page one and doesn't let go of you until the very end. Sebold's style is light and breezy, and even allows the reader to smile a few times between the tears. Considering the intensely dark subject matter, it is ultimately a surprisingly uplifting read.
