Support Your Library

Daily Book Sale
In the vestibule of the main entrance to the Library is a shelf of books that have been discarded from the collection and are available for purchase at bargain prices. The selection changes often, so be sure to take a look every time you visit.

Donations & Gifts
The Library accepts monetary donations as well as gifts of books, music and movies. These gifts can be given in memory of a loved one who has passed away or to honor a special occasion, such as an anniversary. Donated items which meet our selection criteria will be added to the Library's collections. Contact the Library at 330-832-9831 if you have questions about gifts.

eBay Auctions
Discarded books, periodicals, collectibles and other items are sometimes offered for auction at eBay. All profits benefit programming and materials for the Library.

Estate Planning
The Library can be named as a beneficiary of your estate. Contact the Director at 330-832-9831 ext. 314 to schedule an appointment to discuss options.

Friends of the Library
The Friends of Massillon Public Library was organized more than fifteen years ago as an association of persons interested in increasing, improving and making better known the resources of the Massillon Public Library. The Friends organize and run the annual book sale, contribute funds for new equipment, plan social events and participate in community activities such as the Fun Fest and PRISM Awards.

Junior Friends of the Library
Junior Friends is a community service organization of local teens that has been helping the Library since 1998. The group meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month, in the Auditorium of the Main Library. Membership is open to all students in grades 7 through 12. The Jr. Friends assist the adult Friends organization with the annual book sale in addition to conducting their own fund raising activities.

The Library has placed a distinctive green and yellow "PaperRetriever" dumpster-sized recycling bin in its parking lot on the Southwest corner of the intersection of Second Street and Lincoln Way East, next to the State Farm Insurance office. The public is invited to put paper, newspapers, magazines, mail, junk mail and catalogs in the bin. The Library is then paid for materials that would otherwise have been thrown out. This opportunity to recycle will not only save paper from landfills, but, in our case, it will raise funds for the Library as well. For more information, visit the recycling page.

A number of opportunities exist for donating your time and service to the Library. Contact Mary Ellen Brown, Volunteer Coordinator, at 330-832-9831 ext. 301 for more information about volunteering.

The volunteer application form is available to print here.
