Summary:
Winnie Foster, a lonely rich girl who is stifled by her watchful parents, runs away from home to explore the small woods on her property. Winnie believes she will only be gone for a day, but she meets Jesse Tuck near a big tree that hides a magical water pool. Winnie soon learns that the Tuck family, who has kidnapped her to hide a secret, are a very different kind of family. Winnie begins to lose track of time and forms a strong bond with Jesse. Meanwhile a mysterious man in a yellow suit is "helping" to look for Winnie and tracking the Tuck family.

I would recommend this book!

Why?
This book is well written and a very fast read. Full of suspense, romance, friendship, adventure, and life lessons, it will appeal to both male and female readers in grades 4th through 7th. It also was made into a Disney movie starring Jonathan Jackson, Alexis Bledel, Sissy Spacek, Ben Kingsley, and William Hurt, and this movie does not veer too far from the text.
