Title: Go Ask Alice
Author: Anonymous
type of book: Young Adult Literature
call number: YA/Fic
|
Summary:
This book is written as a diary. The "writer" is a nearly fifteen-year-old girl chronicling her descent into drug use, which is presented effectively in a diary format.
The narrator fights a losing battle as she struggles to fit in and still do what she knows is right. She tries to be good, but, as she says, "After you've had it, there isn't life without drugs."
I would recommend this book!
Why?
Although dated with references to "hippies" and 1960s culture, this book still shows the impact of drugs on an innocent teenager.
Other interesting information about this book:
There is debate as to whether this book is a real diary or a work of fiction.
