Summary:
Meggie's father Mo is a book-binder and storyteller who has the ability to literally bring characters to life. When Meggie was just a baby, her father read from the book "Inkheart". His wife (Meggie's mother) disappeared into the book and three villains (Capricorn, Basta, and Dustfinger) appeared in Mo's living room. Meggie remembers nothing of the night her mother disappeared. For her whole life, Mo has refused to read from any book, no matter how Meggie wishes him to read to her. The evil Capricorn has been searching for Mo for many years because he wishes to enslave Mo and him use his unique gift for dark purposes. Dustfinger has also been looking for Mo - he wishes to go back to his real home in the book. Capricorn soon learns the best way to get Mo to cooperate is to use his beloved daughter and aunt as hostages.

I would recommend this book!

Why?
Anyone who has read The Thief Lord or would enjoy a book about reading books will love this novel. It is fun, suspenseful, and fast-paced. The characters are unique and memorable - especially quirky and feisty Aunt Elinor - and the strange, fire loving and untrustworthy Dustfinger. Those who love magic, adventure, and problem-solving in the plots of their books will find they cannot put this novel down.
