Title: The Supernaturalist
Author: Eoin Colfer
type of book: YA Fiction and Science Fiction
call number: YA/FIC/SF
|
This book is strong in character, story and setting.
Summary:
Cosmos, a "no-sponsor" orphan at the Clarissa Frayne Institute for Parentally
Challenged Boys, waits each day for his opportunity to escape the miserable life
he leads with the other boys as test subjects for products. No boy lives past
15 years of age at Clarissa Frayne, so Cosmo knows his time is short. His
chance comes when the transport crashes in Satellite City.
Cosmo falls while escaping from one of the marshals and is rescued by a
group of teenagers. They save him from the marshal, as well as the blue
Parasites that are believed to suck the life out of wounded humans. Stephen,
Mona, and Ditto take him into their family and train him to kill the Parasites
while saving as many people as possible.
Cosmo learns that there are many forces at work in life, good and bad people,
organizations, and the strange blue Parasites.
I would recommend this book!
Why?
This book is fast-paced, easy to read, and I did not want to put it down until I
had read it in one sitting. Those who like futuristic stories and ones where
you can never quite tell who the good and bad guys are will enjoy this
adventurous, funny book.
