Title: The Roadkill of Middle Earth
Author: John Carnell
type of book: YA Fiction
call number: YA/Fic
|
This book is strong in character, story, language and setting.
Summary:
In the land of Middle Terra Firma, the creature known only as the Dark
Rider wreaks havoc on the Black Highway with his sixteen-wheeler
tractor-trailer. The wizard, Randolph Shortshanks, is the first to become
"roadkill", with many others soon following. The Dark Rider makes his way
quickly to the Shyer, where the Little People, also known as Half wits, live
peacefully. The peoples of Middle Terra Firma hold a meeting and draw straws to
see who must go and fight the Dark Rider. Randolph the Wizard, Legolando the
Elf, Garathorn the Prince, Borrownomore the warrior, Grimly the Dwarf, and four
little Half wits are the nine who draw the shortest straws. Can one of these men
in the land of Middle Terra Firma stop the Dark Rider or will one the these
unfortunate nine be the next roadkill?
