cover Title: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Author: Ann Brashares

type of book: YA Fiction
call number: YA/FIC

This book is strong in character, story and setting.

Summary:
Main Characters: Carmen (the one who cares), Lena (the beauty), Bridget (the athlete), and Tibby (the rebel).

These four girls have spent every summer and weekend together since birth and now, at 16 years old, they are to be separated from each other for the whole summer, each going to do something different. They are heart broken about it. Before they leave each other, they discover that a second hand pair of pants that Carmen bought has magical powers. They all try the pants on and learn that whoever wears them looks absolutely fabulous. They decide to share the pants all summer long. Each girl will get to wear the pants for a week, then send them on to the next girl.

I would recommend this book!

Why?
The point of view shifts around a lot between the four girls, but it is always focused from Carmen, who is the "narrator" so to speak because she gets letters from her friends and she writes to them. It is never confusing to read since each point of view is always clear and each girl has her own distinct hand writing.
