Title: Chinese Handcuffs
Author: Chris Crutcher
type of book: Young Adult Literature
call number: YA/Fic
|
This book is strong in character and story.
Summary:
18 year old Dillon Hemingway is still struggling with witnessing the suicide of his older brother, Preston, as well as the feelings he has for his good friend Stacy (who was Preston's girlfriend, and has a secret), and for his friend Jennifer (who has demons of her own).
I would recommend this book!
Why?
I enjoy this author's writing style. His experience working with teens as a
psychologist/therapist gives him an unique insight on the issues many may be
facing.
There is a lot going on in this book: sexual abuse, suicide, teenage parenthood,
etc. Almost too much for one book. The book was interesting to read with lots of
play-by-play of basketball games.
