This book is strong in character and story.

Summary:
The four lifetime friends have graduated high school and it is now their last summer together before college, adulthood, and big life changes. Tibby (the viewpoint this time) finds out that Brian has turned into a hottie and likes her more than a friend. She isn't sure how to handle this, especially since she treasures their close friendship. Lena finds her artistic voice by taking a drawing class to prepare for art school, even though her father strongly dislikes her career choice. Also, she is trying to overcome the heartbreak of Kostos. Bee is back at soccer camp but this time as a staff/coach. She is reunited with Eric (from book one) who is also back coaching. They start over as friends since he has a girlfriend, but their attraction and caring for each other is still strong. Finally Carmen's mother announces she is pregnant with her new husband's baby. Now another person is coming between Carmen and her mother. She isn't so sure she wants to go to the college of her dreams and be forgotten. She also meets "Win" a good looking student who attends a college very close to her dream college.

I would recommend this book!

Why?
These books (all three) are fabulous. They are well-written, have extremely real characters whom readers will identify with and adore. Their adventures each summer (for work, school, family, travel, or boyfriend) are exciting to read about. Their close bonds as friends are heartwarming. These are must reads, especially since book one is the basis for a movie due to be released this year.

Other suggested reading:
  • The first two books in the series: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, also by Ann Brashares.

  • Spanish Holiday and Grecian Holiday by Kate Cann (for older teens 8th grade and up).
