Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Massillon Public Library is closing its three branches and all services including Bookmobile effective March 15, 2020 until at least April 6, 2020 in order to protect the health and safety of our patrons and staff.
We will continue to monitor the situation and follow advice from local and state health officials to develop a plan to safely reopen. We realize the significant inconvenience this closure may create for many of our patrons in the short term; however, we also feel that it is in the best interest of the community to limit the number of people gathering in our facilities.
As of Monday, March 23 and the Governor’s order to “Stay at Home,” we do not want you coming out to return library materials. Our book drops are now closed. Please hold on to your items until we reopen. Due dates have been extended and fines will NOT accrue during this temporary closure, even for materials from another library. Ignore any overdue notices you might receive by phone or email — they are generated automatically.
Also, all library programming through May 10, 2020, has been canceled. This cancellation includes the PRISM Award banquet and the Volunteer Recognition dinner.
While physical access to our buildings is not possible at this time, we invite you to explore everything we have to offer on our website. You can borrow eBooks and audiobooks from the Ohio Digital Library as well as stream movies and checkout eBooks, audiobooks, music and more on hoopla.
Thank you for supporting the Massillon Public Library and helping us to keep our community safe. Please visit our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information about the library and library activities.
