Cake Pan Lending

Are you one of those people who loves to treat your family and friends to fancy cakes and baked goods? Do you also avoid certain recipes because you don’t want to spend money on a special expensive pan you might use only once? Do you see yourself making mini bundt cakes, or a cake shaped like a 3-dimensional Christmas tree…if you just had the right pan?

If so, the Massillon Public Library’s new cake pan lending library is for you!

Thanks to a generous donation from local baker and hostess extraordinaire Mary Jane Corwin, proprietor of the former Amherst Rose tea house in Massillon, a core collection of brand new high quality bakeware can be borrowed for a one week period at no charge using your adult library card. More than 20 varieties of pans are available, some in multiples so you can bake several layers at the same time. Two pans may be checked out at a time.

A notebook with photographs of the pans, pictures of finished cakes, and sample recipes provided by Mrs. Corwin is available at the Main library, the Askren and Belloni branches, and the Bookmobile. Staff will be happy to assist you in reserving your items.

Common sense guidelines will apply, such as asking you to wash the pan before you use it and before you return it to the library. Obviously, no promises can be made about whether the item has been exposed to allergens. Otherwise, it will be easy as pie…or cake!

Watch for a baking program and tea party in the fall which will feature this new collection.
