Children’s Summer Reading at MPL is for children from birth to going into Grade 6. To participate in the in-person program, children need a Summer Reading Record and an SRC number. This number is assigned to the child at time of registration and will be used for entries in contests, drawings, etc.
Children must read one hour per week to qualify for the weekly reward. (One reward per week.) Rewards are usually small toys, books, or coupons for free food at local businesses. Stop by the library once a week to show us your reading progress!
When you visit, be sure to pick up a weekly take-home craft (while supplies last), stop by the Activity Table, and enter the weekly Guess How Many contest. Also be sure to look for Freddy the Frog Prince, the Summer Reading mascot, who will be hiding in a different downtown Massillon location each week. When you find him, write his location on an entry form for more chances to win a prize!
Your library is also offering a virtual reading program for those who wish to participate from home. The virtual reading program engages patrons of all ages with targeted user experience and content and inspires participation with curated book recommendations, fun activities, literacy games, virtual badges, prizes, and more!
